On Tuesday, September 29 we received notification of a positive COVID-19 test with an individual at Northside Elementary School. Through the course of our contact tracing protocols with our local health department, it was determined "that close contacts" (people who had direct contact with the positive case) were limited to certain individuals in the building and we must continue to contact trace with the health department’s assistance. As we continue to contact trace, one classroom at Northside will not be in session Wednesday September 30 as contact tracing continues. Those students and staff directly involved have been contacted. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this situation. Mark Fritch Superintendent Nebraska City Public Schools

Nebraska City Elementary Families! We are excited to kick off our Pioneers on the Move Fun Run fundraiser on Monday, October 12. Our goal is to raise $20,000 for outdoor classroom tables at Hayward, an indoor Rock Climbing Wall at Northside and to strengthen our school community. Our school has always relied on fundraising to provide exceptional opportunities to enhance student learning. And this year, we have more needs than we’ve ever had before, which means we need your support more than ever. We completely understand if your family is not in a position to financially support the school right now. You can still be involved by simply SHARING about our fundraiser with friends and extended family online at funrun.com. Sharing IS supporting! Just as we worked to safely begin school this year, we are also safely hosting this essential fundraiser based on our school’s current guidelines. We’ll send more details, as we get closer to our kick off. Key dates to remember: Donating Opens - October 5, 2020 - Register on FUNRUN.COM, SHARE, & GIVE! Fundraiser Kick Off - October 12, 2020 Event Days - October 22, 2020 @ Hayward and October 23, 2020 @ Northside Elementary! We are grateful for our Nebraska City Elementary family! Thank you for your support this year. We all need it!

Katie Nielson, a 2018 NCHS Graduate and daughter of Deane & Rhonda Nielson, had applied for and has been awarded the American FFA Degree. This is the highest honor an FFA member can receive and less than 1% of FFA members ever receive it. Please congratulate her if you see her!
